Grammator píše:i agree... but school isn't the best way to learn language
It may not be the best way, but at least for me, it's been as necessary as any other method. In other words, the practical aspect is extremely beneficial, but you couldn't do it right if knowledge of theory lacked.
Do you want to know what English means to me right now? It's heaps of texts I've written believing that they're flawless, so that I can be given them back and find out that one-fourth of them is no English of any kind. It's a row of textbooks I've been reading to learn the fact that I haven't yet covered all the simple grammar English is claimed to have, nor am I able to read a single news article without finding at least one inconspicious expression or word I don't know or understand. It's hours of reading aloud English texts to practice my pronunciation, and in the end, in comparison to native speakers, my speech still doesn't sound plausible enough.
Of course, I'm overdramatizing it a little; however, I'm still fully confident I would be fairly fucked up if I relied on watching movies and online gaming. Nonetheless, it just depends on whether you wish to make your English as english as possible, or you only need it as a lingua franca to communicate with your friends in the Netherlands. Anyone has got to choose...

My Google keeps preferring my native tongue where possible.
